Adult Support Services

Mission Statement

Getting Better Together Adult Team will work to reduce loneliness and isolation.

We will offer support in a timely manner and will provide a variety of interventions and supports that will allow individuals to become active community members, who will be fully informed of the services available and benefit from a reduction in food, fuel, and period poverty.

Outcomes

Adults in our community will:

• Have reduced feelings of loneliness and isolation.
• Have improved social connections within their community.
• Have greater access to social and financial support.
• Experience a reduction in food, fuel, and period poverty.

Meet the Team

We currently deliver a timetable of community-based activities.

1:1 Befriending

Our 1:1 befriending service offers three models of support to ensure that we can best meet the needs of our clients. This service is available to those aged 55+.

Our 12 week service provides clients with a weekly 2 hour support to re-engage them into activities within their community.

Our monthly support offers regular contact with weekly calls and one monthly visit. This service is aimed at clients who are unable to fully re-engage with the community without support.

Our third option offers clients the opportunity to join a specific group/activity with support for a shorter number of weeks but more flexibility in terms of hours spent with befriender to achieve outcome.

There is are no charges for Home Visit 1:1 Befriending Services.

Group Befriending

We provide various group befriending opportunities that create connectiveness within the community and offer the opportunity to link in and make friends with like-minded people.

These groups are client driven and include, but not limited to, afternoon teas, sewing group, art group and GBT Workshop.

Carer Connector

By working in partnership with external agencies, our Carer Connector programme can identify and reach unpaid carers who have not previously been linked into formal services.

In doing so, they have been able to offer outreach support to these carers and their cared for.

Social Prescribing

Our social prescriber project meets the individual needs of clients using a holistic approach to health.

A social prescription is an alternative support which empowers people to take greater control over their own health and wellbeing.

Intergeneration Work

Working in partnership with local schools and nurseries, we are able to offer children and adults a valuable and meaningful intergenerational experience.

Financial Inclusion Support

Our financial support service has a proven track record of successfully improving financial security to households throughout our community.

We are referral agents for various funding streams, including: Scottish Government Heat Fund, Aberlour Fund, Mega Fund and Scottish Holiday Association.

Period Poverty

Working in partnership with our 'Get Active' team, we make weekly deliveries of period products to the door using our cycle team and electric vehicles.
